How to Detect Fake Emails and Handle Spamming and Scams

When creating accounts with Aratum, you will only get replies and emails from handles with @aratum.com. If you receive suspicious emails that seem to originate from Aratum.com, please disregard them, as they could include harmful attachments or links to spam or phishing sites. We will never ask for your Aratum password via email.

How to Detect Fake Emails:

1. Check the sender’s email address and verify them. Scammers often use addresses that appear legitimate at first glance but contain misspelled words or added characters

2. Legitimate companies usually address you by your name. Be careful of emails that start with “Dear Customer” or “Dear User.”

3. Scammers create a sense of urgency strategy to prompt immediate action from you. Phrases like “Immediate action required” or “Your account will be closed” should be disregarded.

4. When receiving an email with links, hover over the links without clicking to see the actual URL. Do not click if it looks suspicious or does not match the sender’s domain.

5. Be cautious if the email asks for personal information, login credentials, or payment details. Legitimate companies rarely ask for such information via email.

What to Do if You Receive Spam or Scam Emails

Do not respond, mark it as spam, report the email, and delete it.

Secure Your Account

1. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). 2FA adds an extra layer of protection to your account, requiring a second form of verification apart from your password. This could be a mobile phone number or an alternative email.

2. Use strong passwords that mix letters, numbers, and special characters. Do not use the same password across multiple accounts.

3. Regularly change your passwords.

4. Monitor your account activities and check if there are unauthorized changes or transactions.
